Shadow Mountain Recovery’s residential program for men is nestled in the mountains of Kit Carson National Forest, rooted by the idyllic town of Taos, New Mexico.
The strong sense of community found in Taos has made it the ideal place for our clients to heal and establish a new life in recovery. Taos is rich in culture and has functioned as an established art colony for decades; it’s natural beauty inspiring the works of Georgia O’Keefe, Ansel Adams and countless other local artists.
Shadow Mountain Recovery, Taos boasts an environment built for adventure. Our property spreads across 37 acres of pristine national forest, delivering a wilderness experience right on our campus. Taos and the surrounding areas features access to rivers, lakes, hiking trails, and Taos Ski Valley; which attracts winter sports enthusiasts from around the country. Our residential program takes full advantage of these offerings to incorporate experiential activities as a means seeking connection, joy and a life of fulfillment in recovery.
Shadow Mountain Recovery’s residential program for women inhabits a quaint and intimate property located in the southern tip of the Colorado Rockies. Half way up Pikes Peak, one of the highest summits throughout the Rocky Mountains, our Cascade location offers a safe haven for women seeking to focus on the necessary self-care required for sustainable recovery. Once functioning as a bed and breakfast, the facility is set up to enhance the community lifestyle that is so integral to the treatment experience, while still providing space for privacy and tranquility.
Encompassed by pine trees and stunning views, clients are able to appreciate the outdoors while engaging in daily program activities. Adventure is readily available with numerous hiking trails, including the extraordinary Garden of the Gods, and easy access to ski valleys and experiences that have established Colorado as a premier destination to enjoy nature.
